West Memphis Performing Arts Center
West Memphis, Arkansas (2004)
The West Memphis Performing Arts Center is a 18,350 square foot auditorium and music academic facility that was constructed for the West Memphis School District in 2004. The performing art center houses 700 seats as well as classrooms for Chorus, Rehearsal, and a workshop space for set design. Due to the building’s location, at the back edge of the campus, and the fact that it was abutting a neighborhood district, there were strict height limitations imposed and a design intent to enhance and relate to the aesthetic appeal of the surrounding neighborhood. The building itself attaches to one the of school buildings on campus and therefore acts as an extension of the West Memphis High School.
